2017 Frisco Holiday Home Tour
There's no place like home for the holidays. Especially when the home is elaborately decorated from top to bottom and the owners invite you over for a visit!
The halls are all decked out for the second annual Frisco Holiday Home Tour, taking place on Saturday, December 9th from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The tour will feature six gorgeous Frisco homes fully decorated in holiday splendor.
The homes are as grand in spirit as they are spectacularly decorated, for they've graciously opened their doors to guests in an effort to raise significant funds for Make-A-Wish North Texas.
So how does one tour the homes?
Guest can enjoy a self-guided tour of six homes, each uniquely decorated in a style that fits the owner's preferences and offers new ideas for those participants seeking holiday inspiration. You can start the tour at any of the homes. Visit them all or just a few. Simply show your ticket at the first house and you'll receive a wristband which grants your entry to each of the other homes.
The six homes are located within a reasonable distance from one another throughout Frisco and include the neighborhoods of Stonebriar Park, Chapel Creek, Starwood, Newman Village and Panther Creek. Volunteers will be stationed throughout the tour to share some of the traditions and stories of each of the participating families.
The average Make-a-Wish experience costs $10,000, and last year, the tour raised over $12,000! The committee hopes to increase their donation this year.
We are beyond grateful for the community of Frisco and all they have done to help Make-A-Wish grant more wishes for local children," said Tabatha Gonzalez-Olaechea, Director of Development for Make-A-Wish North Texas. "The Holiday Home Tour is an amazing event. The holidays are a wonderful time of year to remind us of what is truly important while bringing our communities together and this event does just that."
One of the homes featured on the tour belongs to Steve and Cindy Rigby whose son, Zachary, is a "wish kid" who received his wish at age 16.
As a wish recipient, our family saw first-hand how their generosity positively impacted our then sixteen-year-old son's successful battle against cancer. Ten years later, Zach continues to be a passionate and effective spokesman. We are blessed to continue our family's advocacy by opening our home and supporting Make-A-Wish as they inspire hope and deliver strength to young patients and their families." said Cindy Rigby, a participant in this year's tour.
Behind the Scenes
Now in its second year, the Frisco Holiday Home Tour was spearheaded by Frisco resident Lexi Schladenhauffen. A couple of years ago she attended a holiday-themed home tour in another city, something she has always personally enjoyed. Her good friend and neighbor, Jean Cooper, encouraged Lexi to take her love for elegant Christmas decor and home tours of this kind and bring it to Frisco. She suggested Make-A-Wish North Texas as the beneficiary, and that resonated with Lexi's heart instantly.
My husband and I have close friends in Chicago (where we're from) who lost their daughter, Addison, to cancer at 7 years old and she was a Make-A-Wish recipient," said Lexi. "She was the oldest of four kids and wished to go to Disney World with her brothers and sister. It was the one bright moment in her horrible battle and it stuck with me how truly great it is what MAW does for these children and families."
She felt that Frisco was a perfect fit for an event of this kind. The city is not only blessed to have beautiful homes in abundance, but it's also a community that consistently comes together to give back. Lexi gathered friends from her Frisco neighborhood and formed what turned out to be a very dedicated committee. Everything is donated, from the homeowners' gracious opening of their homes, down to the disposable booties the guests wear over their shoes. 100% of ticket sales will reach Make-A-Wish North Texas.
Lexi's vision is for this to become the premier holiday event in Frisco. Not only because it's a great way to kick off the holiday season, but because each ticket sold represents funds for Make-A-Wish North Texas, and that…is what this is all about.
Mark your calendar, grab some friends, and purchase your tickets online for $35. These elegantly-decorated homes are sure to spark your holiday cheer!
